The controller for ‘Scratch Ultimate DJ’
This year will see the release of not one, but two DJ games. DJ Hero and it’s rival game, ‘Scratch Ultimate DJ’ are both slated for release later this year. One this is clear, these games have massive, ridiculous controllers. This thing looks massive. Do you put it on your lap or set it up on your coffee table?
Either way, rythm games have officially gotten out of hand. …do people have enough disposable income to drop on a nonsense DJ Controller and game that will easily run over $150.00? (read moar from Dan)
DJ Hero is shooting for a $100 pricepoint, so Scratch is going to have to stay there, or below.
The thing I like about Scratch’s controller is that it’s made by Numark, and it’s (supposed to be) Mac/PC compatable as a USB interface. It obviously doesn’t stand up to the Lemur or anything, but it’ll be nice to have a super affordable entry-level set of pads, a cross-fader, and a free-spinning turntable on the market.
Out of all the novelty game controllers out there, it looks like this one is going to be by far the most useful and educational outside the game. Real DJ’s will scoff at the thing, but kids and people who just want to fuck around with their iTunes tracks inside Serato Scratch will really enjoy it.
