1. New monitor! Looking forward to regretting this investment when I get my first IMAX kit.
EDIT: Or regretting it two hours later. An HDMI connector brushed against the screen, and now it has a scratch right in the middle. I called support about getting another LCD protector to replace it with, but it turns out that the product ships with a naked LCD screen, and I “should have” purchased the acrylic snap-on protector.
Why the shit is there a naked LCD screen on a product that is supposed to survive conditions on set?
Why didn’t anybody at SmallHD tell me that the acrylic snap-on thing was important?
Because it’s the LCD itself that needs to be replaced, it’s a $300 repair. This really, really makes me appreciate the iPhone and iPad which can slide across a gravel driveway without taking much damage to the screen.
Support didn’t do much to remedy the situation. When I asked if there was a coupon code for the (essential) acrylic screen protector ($29.99), I was offered free UPS ground shipping, worth $6.
I could have bought so much gum for that $1,000.
