Way, way bad ass. Google has teamed up with Arcade Fire and video director Chris Milk to make a crazy interactive video for their song We Used To Wait, set… on the street you grew up on.

The video gathers up a whole bunch of crazy aerial and street-level panoramas of your street from Google’s satellite spy cam gizmos, and HTML5 video is constructed on the fly, dynamically layering in elements of the music video over your intimately familiar scenery.

There’s no google magic at any of my Wisconsin addresses, but my mind is still pretty blown.

Today, we are testing my faith in the Gorillapod Focus.

Today, we are testing my faith in the Gorillapod Focus.

New Numbers Reveal: Cord Cutting Is Real

New Numbers Reveal: Cord Cutting Is Real:

Was about to get AE CS5. using it mostly for cover up stuff like that, text in motion, lower thirds sometimes. intro graphics, etc.

What are some benefits of motion?

Lots of people hate Motion, and would choose AE over it any day. The biggest benefit of Motion is the tight integration with Final Cut Pro, which allows you to drop Motion files directly into timelines.

When I have a compositing project that I know Motion can handle, It’s convenient to duplicate the clip, then do a right click->”send to Motion project”. This makes the clip into its own motion project, and every time you save it in Motion, your changes get reflected in FCP. This saves you the trouble of rendering out, and matching settings between Motion and the FCP timeline. I also use Motion to build lower third (and occasional fullscreen title) templates which get saved directly to FCP, where they can be applied to a timeline with editable text. This beats the shit out of doing a different AE render for each lower third.

I’m shooting everything I can possibly shoot, so I can...

I’m shooting everything I can possibly shoot, so I can become one with the 1D before tour starts. The goal was to uncheck a couple checkboxes on a document and recheck some other boxes. It wouldn’t have been an issue with a still image (or some foresight while making the prop), but my subject was floating around and getting covered by fingers and stuff.

I used Apple Motion to clone, track and shift the boxes around.
The Art Institute system has had a lot of successful people come out of it, unfortunately, most of those success stories happen despite the degree from AI. While the education and facilities themselves aren’t bad, degrees in the industry are inherently worthless. AI is cashing in on years and years of High School students being told that they need a degree to survive in the world. In video/audio/multimedia/design, this just isn’t the case. People spend tens of thousands of dollars on these degrees, but that money would have been much better used to establish a safe starting point in their careers.

This girl should be happy that she can pay off a $80,000 degree by giving wealthy men erections. Most AI graduates have a hard time giving those away.

Going through my footage of Sum 41’s set at Warped Tour

Going through my footage of Sum 41’s set at Warped Tour

Hurrr.

Hurrr.

On this trip, I learned that working at radio stations is...

On this trip, I learned that working at radio stations is utterly fucking terrifying.

Visiting Sirius HQ.

Visiting Sirius HQ.
