  3. Someone put a Phantom on a Mövi, and then rode that rig up a ski jump to shoot Nick Goepper talking about how he does his tricks. It’s absolutely incredible.

  4. Sean and I were in Haiti for the better part of last week. Our assignment was to shoot kids’ general living conditions, public schools and private schools.

I spent most of that trip with a GoPro in my mouth. Here’s what it saw.

  5. Any given Sunday: inside the chaos and spectacle of the NFL on Fox

I love the video in this piece. Live production is amazing on so many levels, and The Verge’s OC video content is exactly the stuff I want to make when I grow up.

  9. Car Jumper: Episode 12

I had the pleasure of shooting the first half of this episode, with Mr. Sean O’Brien taking the second. The first time I saw all the pieces come together was at the screening last night, and it was great.

My personal stunt list this month included riding on Dave’s windshield to get the approach shot, standing on a dumpster to get a nice overhead in the parking lot, and sprinting out of the Glendale Galleria (with my kit) when mall security came to shut down our shoot. Process trailers, technocranes and permits would just make this show too easy.

  12. "Graduate relocated out to LA"

My college just sent me one of their “we have a recent graduate who just moved to LA” emails, and it’s disappointing. Any skills or hiring potential that the student might have are overwhelmingly beat down by the way her reel is put together, and the way that the school teaches grads to present themselves as professionals. They’re incredibly out of touch with the way that people get started in the industry, and their portfolio requirements are crippling students that take the initiative to move out here.

Part of me wants to reply to the email from the career counselor and tell them exactly how far off-base they are. I want to fix their graduation requirements and become a hero, maybe get a library named after me. The other part of me doesn’t want to deal with that argument, delete the email, and have a stiff drink for the recent graduate who’s HTML resume has “executive producer” and “Bacardi Girl” in the same paragraph.
